WBF/ECatsBridge Charity Pairs

We don't ask for a specific amount for these events ... it is up to the individual player

Because of the various difficulties involved in asking clubs to collect the funds, we are happy for the individuals to send their donations directly to us (probably the easiest) although if the club is happy to collect the money and send it as a single donation, of course that is just fine as well.

So, for this event, we simply ask that as many bridge players - whether they play online or not - donate as much as they can although we do suggest a minimum of £3.00 per person.

And even if you don't play online, maybe you would still consider donating to help us raise as much money as we can.

You can pay by PayPal (using credit card if you want to), BACs or good old fashioned cheque - in British Pounds on a British bank please.

Please note the following :

Because of the changes in format for our Charity events, it is necessary also to make changes to the way we charge for Simultaneous Pairs. I am sure you understand that we have a lot of expenses – the servers, the bandwidth and our time, payment for commentaries, updating software and so on – are all factors we have to consider if we are going to run the events and raise as much as we can for the various charities.

In the days when we printed booklets, the entry fee to the event covered those and all other costs, with as much as possible (about 75%) being sent to the Charity concerned. In the case of Children in Need the club was invited to purchase the organiser pack separately. None of this will happen now.

Therefore, we will make a charge of 50p per pair (per PAIR please note not per player) + the dreaded VAT as the entry fee to the event, with all other funds being a donation to the charity. The clubs may decide to cover that cost, but for simplicity we ask that all payments are made to the ECatsBridge Charity Account and we will invoice the total amount of the entry fee at the end before sending the balance to the charity. We suggest a minimum donation of £3 per player, although maybe players would like to make that a little bit more to cover this entry fee. But in any event if a player sends us £3 then £2.70 of that will end up with the charity we are raising funds for (i.e. 90%).

I am sure you understand the need to do this – the only alternative would be to stop running the events altogether and close ECatsBridge – something we don’t want to do and hopefully you don’t want us to do!
